Note:
- One kilolitre is equal to 103 litres.
- This group is separated from other uses, as combustion of waste oil is included in energy and greenhouse gas emission calculations.
- Includes mineral waste such as tailing, sludge, residue, fume dam mud and slag that are classified as hazardous in some jurisdictions (e.g. due to their leaching characteristics).
- Other hazardous waste includes: asbestos, radioactive materials, heavy metals, hazardous baghouse filter dust, spent pot lining, solvents, paint and thinners, acids, alkalis, tarry residues, land and other materials contaminated with hydrocarbons and chemicals, certain type of fly ash, pesticides, and any drilling muds and cuttings that are classified as hazardous.
- General and domestic wastes disposed of at 'normal' (nonhazardous) landfill sites, including paper and cardboard, metals, glass, plastics, organic (garden and food), building and construction, office furniture and equipment, and e-waste (computer hardware).
