Overview

The WMC Resources Sustainability website explains how we extend the integration of social responsibility, economic benefit and environmental stewardship beyond corporate management into our operational areas, and details our progress, including our successes, improvements and issues, at each of our seven operations.

The Sustainability Site is divided into two main sections: ‘Our Approach’ and ‘Our Performance’.

‘Our Approach’ presents our corporate policies for Community, Environment, Health and Safety, and People. It is an overview of our systems for managing, auditing and assessing our performance on key sustainability measures.

‘Our Performance’ provides a review of each operation's sustainability performance, measured against our corporate policies. The Corporate Overview is an analysis of the entire company's sustainability performance and features data collated from across WMC Resources.

The Corporate Overview is followed by comprehensive reports from our seven operations, with an overview of each site, followed by a commentary on their performance in Safety and Health, Environment, Community, Employment and data on Injury Frequency Rates, Non-Compliance Incidents, Environmental Data and Inputs and Outputs. Each of these reports is supported by data tables.

An archive of WMC publications on sustainable development, from 1995 to 2005, is available from this site.

Our Sustainability Report is aligned to the Global Reporting Initiative Index. The Global Reporting Initiative is an independent body established in collaboration with the United Nations' Environment Program to create benchmarks for corporate sustainability reporting.

The statements and data presented in our Sustainability Report are verified by PricewaterhouseCoopers. For external verification, and to provide an enduring snapshot of our performance, we prepare an annual archive of the Site.

The Sustainability Site also features a Noticeboard, with regular postings of our reports to government, data updates and sustainability news. Health and Safety data is updated quarterly and posted on the Noticeboard.
