Leinster Nickel Operations

Introduction

photo

Leinster Nickel Operation is located 645 kilometres north-east of Perth. Production commenced at Leinster in 1979 and WMC purchased the operation in 1989. Our 236 employees and 419 contractors operate the Perseverance underground mine, Harmony and 11 Mile Well open-cut mines, and nickel concentrator and dryer. Concentrate produced at Leinster and WMC's nearby Mt Keith Operation is dried at Leinster and transported to WMC's Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter.

Leinster Nickel Operation is pivotal to WMC's nickel business with Leinster blending 75 per cent of the company's nickel-in-concentrate to ensure a quality feed is provided to the Kalgoorlie Smelter.
