Queensland Fertilizer Operations (QFO) operates mining and fertilizer production facilities at Phosphate Hill, an acid plant at Mount Isa and distribution facilities at Townsville. QFO employ more than 280 people directly and about 200 through contractors.

Production began in late 1999 and about 35 per cent of the high-analysis fertilizer produced is exported. We sell the balance in Australia through the Hi Fert marketing and distribution network, and one other major Australian distributor.

The design capacity of Phosphate Hill operations is 960, 000 tonnes of fertilizer per annum. During 2004, 883,921 tonnes of di-ammonium phosphate and mono-ammonium phosphate was produced, down from 921,000 tonnes during 2003.
